  Dear Parents/Carers

   

  We hope you are all safe and well. Further to the letter dated 7^th July, from Leeds City Council’s Director of Children’s Services, Sal Tariq - please click here to view – I am writing to update you on our plans for September as they currently stand. Please do note that our proposals are subject to change in line with Government guidance and an update is due 11 August. I will write to parents and students again once this is received.

   

  To accompany this letter and assist with our planning, please could you read the letter and then complete a short survey that we will be sending out on Monday 20^th July.

   

  We anticipate that all of our children in all year groups from Reception through to Year 6 will be able to return on Wednesday 9^th September 2020. It is currently planned that Nursery children will return on Monday 14^th September.

   

  We would like to work with parents to reassure you that the measures we have taken provide as safe and secure an environment as possible. In preparation for the full reopening of school to all children, please be assured we are undertaking the necessary health and safety risk assessments and we are following the advice provided by the Government and Leeds Local Authority. We will provide more information regarding this prior to the reopening of school.

   

  The term will begin on Monday 7 September as scheduled. Monday and Tuesday (7^th and 8^th September) will be TRAINING DAYS for staff only. The focus of these days will be on how the school will operate to take into account the Government guidelines, as well as offering a broad and balanced curriculum for all children as safely as possible. It is important to note that other schools in the Leeds Local Authority may adopt a different model to factor in different access routes and the layout and staffing of their own school site.

   

  Below are the details of how students will return to school from 9th September and how their day will be structured.

   

  Lunchtimes and break times will be staggered to allow each bubble time in their classroom to eat lunch and enjoy free time on the playground.

   

  WEDNESDAY 9th & THURSDAY 10th SEPTEMBER

   

  Reception - Holly & Elderberry classes – 9am -11.30am

  LKS2 - Hazel, Maple, Elm classes – 9am -3.15pm

   

  KS1 - Beech, Cedar, Willow classes –8.45am – 3pm

  UKS2 – Ash, Oak, Sycamore classes –  8.45 -3pm

   

  FRIDAY 11th SEPTEMBER

   

  Reception - Holly & Elderberry classes – 9am -1.15pm

  LKS2 - Hazel, Maple, Elm classes – 9am -3.15pm

   

  KS1 - Beech, Cedar, Willow classes –8.45am – 3pm

  UKS2 – Ash, Oak, Sycamore classes –  8.45 -3pm

   

  FROM MONDAY 14th SEPTEMBER

   

  Nursery 8.45am -11.45am (morning sessions) 12.15pm – 3.15pm (afternoon sessions)

  LKS2 - Hazel, Maple, Elm classes – 9am -3.15pm

   

  KS1 - Beech, Cedar, Willow classes –8.45am – 3pm

  Children will need to be on time when starting and finishing school to keep everyone safe and minimise cross contamination of different groups of parents/children. If your child is late they will need to enter school via the Haven as the playground gates will be locked promptly. Please be reminded that being late WILL affect your child’s attendance record. Persistent lateness or non-attendance may result in parents being fined.

   

  If you are a working parent or attend college you can apply for a place in our breakfast club and after school childcare, however due to restrictions club numbers will be limited and will be contained within each class ‘bubble’. Please request your child’s place in the parent survey which will be sent out on Monday 20^th July.

   

  Initially, there will be no extra-curricular activities offered until we see how our new school day works. We will keep this under review.

   

  You will be aware that the Government announced ‘catch-up’ funding. We anticipate that we will be providing additional group interventions for children during the school day. We will also be looking at the use of Microsoft Teams as an opportunity for delivery of additional learning opportunities.

   

  We will return to our policy on school uniform in September and would like to remind parents and student of our expectation with regard to this by clicking here.

   

  Children are not required to wear a face covering in school. However, may we remind you that it is compulsory for everyone to wear a face covering on public transport. Children will be responsible for the removal and storing of face coverings as they enter the school site.

   

  Our behaviour policy will be modified to take account of COVID-19 restrictions and this is available on our school website and we will communicate any updates to this prior to the start of the academic year. We will need to ensure the safety of all on site as a priority as well as allow for as much learning as possible to take place without interruption. As such, if you are concerned that your son/daughter may need additional support with this, please speak to your child’s teacher.

   

  We will be providing school meals in school, however there will be limited choices each day – click here to view the menu. Children will need to bring their own water bottle filled with water.

  The Free School Meals vouchers/hampers will end in September and those eligible for free school meals will return to school meals.

  As in previous year ALL children in Reception and Key Stage 1 will be provided with a school meal every day.

  In Years 3 to 6 children can either have a school meal (£11.50 per week). To assist our Kitchen team, please respond to the survey we will be sending on Monday 20^th July.It would be helpful if parents could advise whether they intend for their child to have a school meal or bring a packed lunch from home.

   

  We have also asked you to keep school updated in terms of contact numbers and your son/daughter’s medical needs. Please provide your up to date telephone number and email address in the parent survey. We require this information as we will need to contact you by text, phone and email over the coming weeks and months. In some cases we may require a rapid response from parents so please do ensure that the contact details supplied allow for this.   We appreciate that you may have specific questions about re-opening and these can be sent to the Headteacher via the school website ‘Contact us’ page. We will respond to these in an update to this letter following the Government announcement due 11 August or directly after this date as appropriate.
