Beech
Welcome to Beech Class
All about your class teacher;
My name is Miss Staggs and I am excited to be teaching in KS1 again this year.
When I'm not busy doing teacher things, I love to spend time outdoors walking my dog called Bella.
My favourite primary school teacher was called Mrs Sergeant; I always really enjoyed listening to her read stories and I soon began a love of reading. The very first book I chose for myself was called Adventures of the Little Wooden Horse by Ursula Moray Williams - I still have it!
Our Class;
The adults in Beech class are: Miss Staggs, Mrs Hall, Mrs Szymula and Miss Gay.
Long Term Plan
This half term we are learning about;
In English, the children will be learning to write a Rags to Riches Tale. Our model text is based on the story: Lila and the Secret of the Rain by David Conway.
In maths, we are learning the number bonds that make 10 and 20. We will begin to use a range of methods for addition and subtraction, including using doubles and near doubles.
Our geography topic focuses on our local area and the different types of buildings we can find around Holbeck.
In science, we are looking at the different seasons then we shall be exploring the properties of materials. We will investigate how different materials change through melting and freezing and we will find out which materials float and which ones sink.
Our key vocabulary;
Up-coming trips, experiences and events;
Important things to remember;
Reading | It is very important for your child to build up confidence and fluency in reading. Please read with your child and log this in their reading record book. We will check each week and give the children a sticker on their bookmark. When their bookmark is full, the children will receive a reward! |
PE kit | PE is on Monday and Friday. PE kit should be placed into a bag and brought into school. |
