Important Information: If you would like your child to attend Ingram Road Nursery please enquire at the school office for paperwork to fill in to add your child’s name to the waiting list. When your child is 3 years old we will be in touch to discuss your child starting Nursery. This usually involves a home visit to come and say hello and support in the transition in coming to Nursery and discussing when your child can start Nursery.
We offer the following hours, please make every effort to attend on time: Morning Nursery 8:45 – 11:45 Afternoon Nursery 12:15 – 3:15 We also offer full time funded places (30 hours) 8:45 – 3:15 for parents who are eligible based on how many hours you work and your family income. Throughout the year we develop skills for phonics for early reading and think about number and shapes to support children as they move into Reception. In Nursery the children learn through key worker groups, you will be introduced to your child’s key worker on their first visit to Nursery and this adult is someone who you can talk to if you have any concerns at all while your child is at Nursery. The key worker system ensures that we get to know every child really well.
Before coming to Nursery: Before your child starts Nursery there is a number of ways you can support your child have an easy start, these include
If you have any concerns at all, we can discuss this on home visits that it is not a problem.
Parental Involvement We believe that parents and / or carers play a vital role in their child’s education. We will support your efforts at home and provide opportunities for you to engage in your child’s education in school. Throughout the school year you will be invited to different stay and play sessions, this is encouraged as you have an important part in your child’s education
Classroom Layout: Our Nursery classroom is carefully set out to allow children to access the seven areas of learning through self-directed play, allowing adults to support and join in their play.
Outdoor classroom Children in Nursery have daily access to the outdoor area, which includes the following areas;
Homework At Nursery we often send home activities that you can do with your child at home to support you in different learning at home. This might include a recipe for making playdough at home, or a number hunt around your house.
At the start of Autumn term, you will be asked to fill in a form to join our Nursery library. This gives your child the opportunity to take a book home and read it together before returning it to take another book home.
Music We are very lucky to have a Music teacher come and visit us every Tuesday which the children love, where they can explore the different sounds of instruments and sing lots of songs.
Weekly trips Every Wednesday morning we go out in small groups in the local area for a walk. The mini bus takes us usually to Middleton Woods but throughout the year we do go to different places based on the interests of the children and linked to our learning topics. For example, we have also visited the farm and got to see lots of animals. You will be asked to sign a consent form for this trip when your child starts in Nursery.
