Apply for a Primary School Place (current Nursery Children)

Children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 are due to start primary school in September 2024. Leeds City Council will write to you to request that you apply online for a school place for your child. Please be aware that just because your child attends our nursery currently, or has a brother or sister in school, does NOT mean that they will automatically be given a place in our reception class, you must apply.

Demand for Reception places in Leeds and in particular for Ingram Road is extremely high at the moment, therefore it is advisable that you complete your application as soon as possible.

The online application form will be available to use from 1 November 2023 for applications to start reception class in September 2024. THE CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 15TH JANUARY 2024.

You must submit an application even if you would like a place at your priority catchment school or your child has a sibling in school.

Invitation to apply letters

If your child is due to start primary school in September 2024 you will receive a letter inviting you to apply.

Your address puts you in the priority catchment area for a particular school and the letter tells you which school this is. 

We recommend that you include this school as one of your five preferences, even if it is your fifth preference, although there is no guarantee that you will be offered a place there.

• visit the schools you are considering applying for, information about primary open events is available on each school’s own website
• speak to staff in the Admissions Team to clarify any issue you are not sure about, especially about the admissions policy? If not, please call 0113 222 4414, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Alternatively you can email education.admissions@leeds.gov.uk
• consider how your child will get to school. Find out if your child is eligible for free transport or use generationM to find out details of school special bus services. These services are regularly regularly, click the link for more information about Transport.

When you’ll find out

We offer primary school places on 16th April 2024 (offer day). If you applied through our online application portal we'll email you with your child's offer. We'll send the email during the working day.

If you applied in any other way, you'll receive an offer letter to your registered home address (a few days after offer day).
