Welcome Intro: Welcome Intro:

Welcome to the Elm class page. In elm class we always strive to give everything a go, no matter how tricky it may seem! We’re kind, thoughtful and respectful to everyone so that we all get to smile, laugh and enjoy our learning!

Here is our class timetable of what our normal learning week looks like…

ELM TIMETABLE

PE

Elm class have PE on a Thursday. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school. They should have black shorts and a white t-shirt. They should also have trainers or pumps and a jacket/hoody and tracksuit bottoms/leggings for outdoor PE (We will aim to be outside as much as possible!)

Homework

Homework will be sent home every Friday. Your child will have Maths and English homework and a set of spellings each week.  Times tables will be sent home fortnightly. They need to complete their homework by themselves but some support can be given with understanding. The spellings should be practiced daily so that your child learns them ready for their spelling test on a Friday. All homework and spelling books need to be back in school the following Wednesday.

Reading

Reading is a very important part of your child’s education and we want to promote a love for reading in Elm class. For your child to become confident readers and writers they need to have plenty of opportunities to read books. Every week your child will be sent home reading books which they will change as and when necessary. It is the responsibility of your child to let their teacher/TA know when they have finished reading their book.  Please read these with your child each day and write in their reading journal.

Could you be the next winner of our reading race?

Read 4x a week at home and get your reading record signed by a parent to be in with a chance of winning a brand new book and a trip to Waterstones.

Music

Mr Muncaster will be in school every Tuesday teaching your child the music curriculum.

Educational visits

Throughout the year, your child will have many opportunities to go out on educational visits. These visits will help to enhance the curriculum for your child and give them hands on experience in the field we are studying. You will receive a letter about each visit before we go.
