Match Report - Ingram Road v Beeston St Luke's

Match Report

Ingram Road vs Beeston St Luke’s

Final Score 3 v 3

The match started with Beeston having the upper hand their number 7 bossing the midfield and creating a lot of chances for their striker. About 7 minutes in, Beeston took the lead when their striker latched on to a loose back pass and slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Straight from the kick off Ingram Road woke up and after some lovely footwork from both Nathan and Kenneth Ingram Road hit the post with a lovely strike from newly positioned striker Brian. At the 15 minute mark, Beeston went on a counter attack and after a powerful strike from their striker they took a 2 to nothing lead. With only seconds remaining of the first half Ingram Road’s new goalkeeper Mohammed took a goal kick which captain Enoch headed on to his midfield partner Kenneth, who then headed over the Beeston defenders playing a fantastic through ball to Brian who took the ball down and smashed the ball into the back of the Beeston net, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Half Time

The Ingram Road pressure continued into the second half but no matter what they tried to do the ball would not go into Beeston St Luke’s net. Midfield maestro Kenneth covered every single yard of the pitch, taking shot after shot but to no avail showed fantastic control of the ball taking the ball out of the air with the back of his heel then played a short pass to winger Nathan who then took on 4 of the Beeston St Luke’s defence using dazzling footwork including a trick called the 360, which was made famous by Diego Maradona, but again the ball just would not go in the back of the net! A few seconds later, Beeston again went on a counter attack finished by a stunning strike into the top corner leaving Ingram Road goalkeeper no chance. Finally in the 12th minute of the second half Kenneth latched onto a Beeston loose pass dribbled passed two defenders and finessed the ball into the bottom left hand corner, leaving the score 3 v 2 with only eight minutes to play.  In the second half Ingram Roads defence played some strong football not allowing the Beeston attackers any space and any room to pass the ball. Two minutes away from the final whistle defender Fred went on a daring run into Beeston’s half taking on defender after defender passing the ball to winger Nathan who then ran into Beeston penalty area where he neatly took it around the defender only for the defender to stick his leg out bringing him to the ground. Penalty to Ingram Road!! Nathan then stepped up to take the penalty he had won the pressure was on him but he scored the penalty with ease straight into the bottom right hand corner the keeper didn’t even have chance to move from the spot!

Man of the Match goes to Nathan for his mature performance and keeping his cool when getting fouled, which was a lot!! Due to his amazing footwork. Miss Toulson and Miss Lloyd were super proud of him and hope he can keep up this behaviour at football and in class!
