Important - Free School Meal Collections

31st March

Dear Parents/Carers

Free School Meal Provision During School Closure

As you are aware, children who are entitled to claim Free School Meals have had a packed lunch available to collect from school every day during the current school closure.

We appreciate that coming to school every day to collect a packed lunch hasn’t been possible for some families.

Food Hampers

Therefore, in conjunction with Leeds City Council Catering Agency, Ingram Road have opted to provide weekly ‘food hampers’ instead of the daily packed lunches we are currently providing.

The 'hampers' will be one per FSM pupil (so a family with 3 children will get 3 packs) and will contain a loaf of bread, 3 lots of cheese, 2 tins of tuna, 1 packet of biscuits, 1 carton of apple juice, 5 pieces of fruit, 5 small bags of crisps, 5 yoghurts & a tub of margarine. The parent will then be able to make the lunch at home.  The hampers will need to be collected weekly.

The Department for Education have advised that there are different ways to help families who are in receipt of free school meals, and this is dependent on individual schools. At Ingram Road we believe that this is the best option, and an option that will be more helpful to the majority of our families who are currently eligible for Free School Meals.

Breakfast Packs

Magic Breakfast have today delivered a batch of 'Breakfast Packs' for our FSM children. For each child there is a pack of bagels, a large tin of beans and a box of porridge sachets. These should be collected from school every week.

Please note; Free School meals are not to be confused with the free meals the government provide to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

If your circumstances have recently changed, you may be eligible to claim free school meals for your child, please visit our website for more information.

In the meantime, we will contact all of our families who are entitled to free school meals to advise when the hampers and breakfast packs are ready for collection.
