Headteacher Letter
18th July 2024
Dear Parents, Carers and Children
As the current school year comes to a close I am writing my last Headteacher letter, as most of you know I am retiring as Headteacher of Ingram Road Primary School this Summer.
Saying our fond farewells, there are also a few other colleagues who will be leaving this summer:
Mrs Kirkham, who has been at Ingram Road for nearly the same 21 years as me, has also decided that now is the time for her to retire and spend a little more time doing the things she loves, and like me, will look forward to every morning being like a Saturday!
We are very grateful to Mrs Kirkham for her many years’ service, and wish her a very long and happy retirement with her husband and their family.
Miss Leeming (9 years’ service), Miss Lockwood (10 years’ service), Miss Pollard (5 years’ service) and Miss Ryan (2 years’ service) are all leaving to take up new teaching positions in other schools across the Leeds and Wakefield areas.
Miss Hussain will be leaving her Teaching Assistant post to pursue her teaching career after she graduated this month.
We also say a huge thank you to Mrs Rhodes, Mrs Dovgan and Miss Torbitt who are all moving on to other school settings.
Miss Anna (McQuade) will also be leaving after 13 years as our school counsellor.
We would like to wish all of our colleagues who are retiring or moving on to new adventures lots of luck for the future.
They say as one door closes another door opens, we will be welcoming Mr Primmer as Phase Leader with Mrs Haines and Mr Bonynge in Upper Key Stage Two.
Mr Rivers will be the Phase Leader in Lower Key Stage Two with Mrs Rai and Miss Roberts, and in Key Stage One, Miss Benson, Miss Staggs and Mrs Lonergan will be the class teachers.
In Foundation Stage Miss Jeffery is the Phase Leader, with Ms Granger and Mrs Rendle as class teachers in reception and nursery.
During my twenty one years at Ingram Road, I have been privileged to work with many dedicated professionals within our school team. Whilst the interim Headteachers Miss Williams and Mr Theaker, and our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Blasket put their own stamp on things, the fundamental values that we all share – believe, achieve succeed - will be very safe in their hands.
There will be a full appointment process for the permanent position of Headteacher in the Autumn term, with the new Headteacher planned to be in place for January 2025.
I am fiercely proud of our school and It’s been a huge privilege to be part of the Holbeck community. Parents, carers and our wider community have also provided consistent support for which I remain extremely grateful. Most importantly, I have enjoyed seeing a large number of Ingram Road children develop and progress during their school careers and many have gone on to have some fantastic results at High School, University and beyond. This is a unique privilege for any headteacher and one that has inspired and motivated me over time.
I am sure you will join me in wishing the school every success as it enters a new chapter. Keeping the fundamental ethos of the school the new leaders will I’m sure, as I have, continue to be very proud of our school which will always hold a special place in my heart. I believe that Ingram Road is built on strong foundations and we can look to the future with optimism and confidence.
With best wishes
Yours faithfully
S Millard
