  • Spring Term 2

    Sun 27 Feb 2022

    Spring Term 2 - Monday 28th February 2022

    27th February 2022

    Dear Parents/Carers

We hope that you and you children have enjoyed the half term break - although the weather has been a little wet and windy at times!

We are looking forward to welcoming all children back to school tomorrow - Monday 28th February. I am so happy to let you know that after the Prime Minister's recent announcement around 'Living with Covid' that there will be a few changes to the school day that will resemble our 'old normal'!

The staff and children in particular, overall, have been extremely resilient to the constant changes that Covid has brought us over the past 2 years. Your co-operation and understanding of our requirement to follow the ever-changing rules has also been greatly appreciated.

As we await further guidance from the local authority (Leeds City Council), we continue to be cautious and will advise of any further changes as soon as we become aware of them. In the meantime, in summary, our plans towards normal are:

    • All children who were doing boosters before or after school will continue as they did before half term.
    • All other children will start school at the same time with the playground gates opening at 8.40 and children will come in to class gradually until lessons begin at 9.00. For that first 15 minutes, children will have the opportunity to read with support from staff in the classroom.
    • Parents will be able queue with their child at their allocated gate - Rydall Place for Reception and KS1 (year 1 and 2), Brown Lane East for Children in KS2 (year 3, 4, 5, 6). Staff will continue to be present at the gates; parents do not need to enter the school playground.
    • Lunchtimes will be back to eating in the main school hall on a rota basis, starting at 11.30am for children in reception and nursery.
    • Children will be able to enjoy playing outside together as soon as they have finished their lunch. All children will start their afternoon lessons at 1pm.
    • At the end of the day, all children will leave their classrooms at 3.10pm to line up in playground ready to go home.
    • Parents should queue at the appropriate gates at 3.15 with respect and consideration for others, where staff will hand your child to you (or your nominated adult).
    • Staff are still expected to wear masks/visors when in circulation areas or out of their own Phase until we receive further guidance from the local authority.

The Risk Assessment, and in particular the 'Outbreak Management Plan' will be invoked should a further local outbreak of Covid-19 variants occur.

We continue to respectfully request, that you DO NOT send your child to school if they are unwell, if they have a high temperature, a continuous/new cough. However, as per current Government advice 'adults and children who test positive will continue to be advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people. After 5 days, they may choose to take a Lateral Flow Device (LFD) followed by another the next day-if both are negative, and they do not have a temperature, they can safely return to their normal routine. Those who test positive should avoid contact with any one in an at risk group, including if they live in the same household'.

Should you have any questions please email info@ingramroad.org.uk as the phone lines can get quite busy especially first thing in the morning and at the end of the school day.  You can also use this email to notify us of any changes in address, telephone numbers or contacts on your child's record.

If you wish to report your child absent from school you can email attendance@ingramroad.org.uk or telephone 0113 2456136 option 1 and leave a message for Mrs Robb, School Welfare & Attendance Officer.

Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

    Yours faithfully

    Miss S Millard

  • Homework

    Wed 20 Oct 2021

    20th October 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    Purple Mash - Homework Expectations

Purple Mash has been a huge success for our pupils, therefore homework across school is expected to be completed using the Purple Mash website.

Each Friday, your child will have Maths and English homework set for them on Purple Mash. This homework will need to be completed and ‘handed in’ by the following Wednesday. Online homework will then be seen by your child’s class teacher.

After half term it is expected that ALL children will complete their homework by Wednesday every week. If they do not complete their homework they will have a detention with their class teacher - meaning they will miss their playtime after lunch.

    To Access Purple Mash

    Click on the following link:

    https://www.purplemash.com/sch/ingram

    • Login using the child’s username and password (they have been using this in school so they should know it)
    • Click on the ‘2do’ tab at the top of the screen
    • Click on Math or English
    • When completed click on ‘save and exit’
    • They MUST click on the ‘hand in’ tab.

  • Road Safety!!

    Wed 20 Oct 2021

    20th October 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers

I wrote a news item earlier this month about road safety and explained that I am very concerned about Road Safety for our whole school community.

We have a number of parents who are parking dangerously on the roads outside of school.

We have had a few 'near misses' recently, where children have not been able to cross the road safely and could quite easily have been knocked down and injured.

    We need your help!

Please DO NOT park directly outside of the school gates on Brown Lane East.

Please DO NOT park on the yellow zig zag lines on Rydall Place - these are there to stop drivers from parking outside of school - you could receive a fixed penalty notice of £30 from the Civil Enforcement Officer.

    To protect your children PLEASE:

Make sure that both YOU and YOUR CHILDREN walk on the footpaths and NOT on the road.

Make sure that your children are being supervised at all times when they are outside of school - especially younger children please hold their hand!

Please talk to your children about the importance of road safety.

Watch these short videos with your children to help them to understand how to cross the roads safely.

KS 1 (age 3-6) Crossing Road - Kids Know Best!

KS2 (age 7-12) Road Ready? - Expect the unexpected

Fore more information about Road Safety please visit our website

The Traffic Enforcement Officer from the council is monitoring traffic and parking around school if you do not follow the Highway Code - you may get a parking ticket costing £30! Parking Charge Notice (PCN).

Thank you for yoour co-operation and understanding of this very important issue.

    Yours faithfully

  • IMPORTANT - Road Safety

    Wed 15 Sep 2021

    4th October 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers

I am very concerned about the number of children and parents who are walking on the roads outside of school. The road  directly outside the school entrance (Rydall Place) is a very busy road unfortunately, and in particular when parents are dropping off and collecting children.

    WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

To prevent accidents from happening please:

Make sure that both YOU and YOUR CHILDREN walk on the footpaths and NOT on the road.

Make sure that your children are being supervised at all times when they are outside of school - especially younger children please hold their hand!

Please talk to your children about the importance of road safety.

Watch these short video with your children to help them to understand how to cross the roads safely.

You may also have noticed that there is a Traffic Enforcement Officer from the council who is monitoring traffic and parking around school. You MUST NOT park on the yellow zig-zag lines outside of school AT ANY TIME - please observe the Highway Code - otherwise you may get a parking ticket cost £30! Parking Charge Notice (PCN).

  • September 2021

    Fri 03 Sep 2021

    3rd September 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers

We hope that you have all had a lovely summer break and are looking forward to coming back to school and getting back into the school routine!

We are really looking forward to welcoming your children back to school, for what we hope will be something more like 'normal' and that we can bring back some parts of the curriculum and extra curricular activities that we haven't been able to do under Covid rules. Things like swimming and the Lineham Farm Residential. Or, trips to the Meanwood Valley Farm and Middleton Woods, the seaside for paddling in the sea and eating ice-cream! Taking part in sporting events such as Football, Hockey, Basketball and Athletics...we feel that we have missed so much, but there's so much to look forward to this year!

Whilst there are lots of Covid rule changes in the UK, as a school we feel that we would like to retain some of the measures we had in place. We are calling these 'Covid -Keeps' - either because they proved to be more efficient, sending emailed letters and information instead of paper for example, or because, we feel that we would like to continue monitoring the Covid situation locally and think that if we continue with the measures we put in place before the summer, we stand a better chance of being able to easily 'roll back' to previous plans so that we can effectively manage any future problems the virus may present.

Considering we were really fortunate with the low number of 'burst bubbles' we had in the last academic year, (just THREE in the whole year!) we think we did a really good job of keeping everyone safe. So, we hope you agree that by keeping some of these measures in place we are less likely to have situations where we have to have children learning from home. Parents did a fantastic job during lockdown, but I've heard many of you have a new understanding of the teaching role and what it entails!

I would be grateful if you could please read the latest advisory about the children in Reception and Years 1-6 coming back to school next week: Parent Advisory so that we can get the new academic year off to a good start.

We are keeping the staggered start and end times to reduce the number of people in the school vicinity at any one time. We appreciate that some parents have more than one child to collect, but please bear with us and join the appropriate queues to drop off and collect your children so that we can get them safely inside school each morning and back to you as quickly as possible.

  • News Update

    Thu 01 Jul 2021

    1st July 2021

    Dear Parents /Carers

I hope you and your family are all well. As restrictions are finally starting to ease in the UK please make sure you stay up to date on our website with all the latest news on Covid 19:

    https://www.ingramroad.leeds.sch.uk/coronavirus-advice-information/

Thank you for continuing to follow Government Guidance, including wearing a face covering to enter the school site, and when queuing outside school to drop off and collect your children.  The Covid 'Delta' variant is on the increase in Leeds, and we would like to continue to protect our whole school community by adhering to the guidance:

    1. Keep a safe distance from others.
    2. Wash your hands regularly, for 20 seconds.
    3. You must wear a face covering on public transport, in shops and in healthcare settings. For a full list of where you must wear a face covering, check government guidance.
    4. No one in your household should leave home if any one person has symptoms.
    5. If you have symptoms, stay at home and book a free test on the NHS websiteexternal link or ring 119.
    6. If you need to stay at home and have no family or friends for support, ring 0113 376 0330.

The Parent Advisory information we sent you previously with details of start and end times of the day still remains in place. In fact we haven't made very many changes in school during this half term.  PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON TIME TO DROP OFF AND COLLECT YOUR CHILD SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN OUR COVID SAFE 'BUBBLES'.

A comprehensive risk assessment remains in place which has been undertaken by colleagues in school and in collaboration with the Local Authority. A full copy of our risk assessment is available on our website and is reviewed regularly.

Children are already familiar with the new way of working in school, and will be reminded of the importance of washing their hands regularly and will talk about how to keep themselves and each other safe both in and out of school.

    Behaviour in school

May I bring to your attention the changes we made back in September to our Behaviour Policy. Whilst most rules and procedures remain the same, there a few small changes to that are in effect during the current pandemic, these are in place to ensure the safety of both staff and children.  A copy of the amended Behaviour Policy can be found on our website – please click here to view. It is important to note that other schools in the Leeds Local Authority may adopt different models for their school day and arrangements on site.

    After School Activity Clubs (Sport)

After school activity clubs will run until the last day of term (Friday 16th July).

Anyone with Covid Symptoms in your house?

I hope that you and your households remain well but just in case, a reminder that a key system of control for schools is to minimise contact with individuals who are unwell by ensuring that those who have coronavirus (COVID -19) symptoms, or who have someone in their household who does, do not attend school. If anyone in your household is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 please do not send your son/daughter into school. Please contact school to notify us of your child’s absence before 9am.

Please arrange a PCR test in line with national guidance and inform school of the outcome of any test as there will be actions that we need to take. If a child becomes unwell in school, we will contact you immediately to arrange for your child and any siblings to leave site.

Lateral Flow Devices (LFD) are not recommended for children under the age of 11, a PCR test is recommended for anyone, including children with symptoms.

School require the test result emailing to info@ingramroad.leeds.sch.uk - whether the result is positive or negative.

If in doubt, get a PCR test, and your whole family must isolate until you get the result.

    • Negative results and the child can come back to school as soon as they are well enough.
    • Positive result means the whole family should isolate for 10 days.

Keeping us up to date with contact details

Please can I request that contact us with any changes to contact details and please make sure that you check you emails regularly sending letters and other important information. Not only are we saving money on paper and printing costs, it is much more environmentally friendly. Please make sure you email address is up to date, you can call us on 0113 2456136 or email us at info@ingramroad.leeds.sch.uk with any changes.

Finally, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am sure you appreciate that a great deal of work goes into making sure our school is safe for our whole school community, we really appreciate your support with this and for following our school guidelines. I will keep you updated with any further changes to guidance and in particular if there are any other significant changes either locally or nationally that affect our school planning.

Let's keep up the good work so that we can all look forward to enjoying our well deserved Summer holiday.

    Yours faithfully
